How Your Meeting Room Can Make Meetings Cool

There’s just something about meetings that tend to make the lightbulbs in our heads fizzle out, our eyes glaze over, and our mouths start to water (in a drooling way). In fact, a group of witty people from SalesCrunch.com have even created a website purely dedicated to awful meeting experiences – DontSuckAtMeetings.com.

Sometimes, it’s really not the fault of the person chairing the meeting. Just the prospect of walking into the “bored-room” and sitting around a dull-colored table to talk about, uh, important things, is enough to make one want to hide in the bathroom just to avoid them. The typical, dreary meeting venue sets the expectation of boredom. In other words: Where you hold your meetings affects how effective your meetings will turn out to be.

We understand that meetings are simply unavoidable (though Jason Fried from 37Signals would beg to differ) for businesses nowadays – and we sympathize. Therefore, we have scoured the web and found out how meeting rooms can be more awesome – create a cool theme for each room. Go ahead, take this article, march up to your boss or supervisor, and tell them that naming your meeting room the Fortress of Solitude would make your company rich and famous. Somehow, I don’t think that’s too far from the truth.

Here are some fabulous meeting room themes we’ve found from around the world – see if you recognize where some of the inspiration came from.
