Hotel Guide for Singapore F1 Grand Prix 2013

Bright flashing lights, zooming cars on the racetrack, beautiful girls strutting their way through the premises and the sweetest entertainment line-up for every day. It has become clear that the Singapore F1 Grand Prix is not just a race, it’s an awesome carnival!

And as with such large-scale, highly happening events like F1, Live Concerts, NDP and the likes of it – there are always two types of people. Some like to put in those earplugs and soak up the festive atmosphere of the ultimate night race even if it means squeezing with thousands of other event-goers. Others who couldn’t care less for the live performances, hotdog stands and beer kiosks would rather watch the race on TV at the comfort of their homes.

But what if you could watch it live AND at the comfort of a posh hotel room? And no, we’re not even talking about a live telecast. We’re talking about a birds-eye view of the race track, having the entire event before your eyes like your childhood Hotwheels toy set.

If this idea appeals to you, clearly you’re the third type of people and this ultimate guide is a collective list of the hotels scattered around the race track to give you the best of both worlds.

Pan Pacific Singapore

Located in the heart of the Marina Bay Street Circuit, Pan Pacific Singapore stands just beside Turn 6 of the track. Some of the guest reviews on TripAdvisor proclaimed this hotel to be the “Great F1 Hangout” where they enjoyed views “directly above the circuit with stunning views across the city including the Singapore Flyer”. Besides its beautiful 5-star hotel rooms, Pan Pacific sure knows how to participate in the frenzy by pushing out F1 dining options at Edge, Keyaki, and Hai Tien Lo.

The Fullerton Hotel

The iconic heritage Fullerton Hotel Singapore is no stranger to all of us. As a fairly low-lying colonial building, the views that Fullerton offers beside Turn 13 of the circuit will definitely stand out from the other high rise, blue-ribbon hotels! Immerse yourself in the atmosphere with the Grand Prix View room package where you can enjoy a night’s stay at the charming courtyard room. And what better way to start a morning after all that buzz and excitement? But of course, an American Buffet Breakfast at the Fullerton Town Restaurant which is also included in the package to complete your Fullerton F1 experience.

Mandarin Oriental

Right in front of the Bay Grandstand where all the activity is, Mandarin Oriental is located at Zone 3 between Turn Points 16/17 and 18/19. With its perfect location, this hotel is like the equivalent of front center seats at a live concert and you simply just can’t ask for more! While you rave about the superb views of the race from this hotel, do not forget to indulge in the noteworthy F1 dining options at Mandarin Oriental at Melt The World Cafe and Cherry Garden. Wish to see all that action on plasma while savoring premium champagne, oysters and Beluga Caviar canapés? Axis Bar and Lounge got you covered as well, for a price of course.

Ritz Carlton Millennia

Widely renowned for its top-notch and world-class service, let’s not forget that Ritz Carlton is located near Turns 19 and 20 of the circuit beside Mandarin Oriental! Some travelers on TripAdvisor had titled this hotel the “spot-on location” for the F1 race. Ritz Carlton is also home to the Podium Lounge – place of the F1 after-parties with fashion shows and celebrities. What else can we say? Lights, cameras, actions, and possibly Lewis Hamilton.

Meritus Marina Mandarin

Within the cluster of shopping options (One Raffles Link, Marina Square etc) lies Meritus Mandarin hotel, just around the bend where Turn 7 is. If you have deep pockets to blow in celebration of this once-in-a-year race event, we’re sure the Grand Prix Suite Packages may just be what you’re looking for! Think first class hospitality and delectable culinary options in the comfort of your hospitality (S$3000) or grandstand suite  (S$6000). Looking to throw a party or have guests over? This is the perfect venue for it entitles you to the usage of a private function room where you can enjoy the occasion with good company.

Fairmont Hotel

Conveniently smacked between the 2 MRT stations, Esplanade and City Hall, is Fairmont Singapore – also right beside the track at Turn 9. The hotel claims to be the winning formula to one of the most phenomenal race experience. In lieu of the Singapore Grand Prix, Fairmont hotel is offering special prices for its hotel rooms. Expected damage? Non-track facing rates from S$720++ and track facing rates from S$1150++. But being close to all that action with a panoramic view? Priceless!

Swissotel the Stamford

Last but not least, how can we forget about Swissotel the Stamford, strategically located at Turn 9 of the circuit beside Fairmont Hotel? With the grand prix specials pricing non-track facing rates from S$670++ and track facing rates from S$1350++, you’d come to realize that the grand luxurious rooms of Swissotel is just the tip of the iceberg for the F1 experience. The Ultimate Night Race Party Experience at New Asia will be held at Swissotel as well, with world class DJs getting the party going.

In less than five days, the black and white checkered flag will be all over the place and the Singapore Grand Prix will commence! If you’re planning to book a hotel room to enjoy the sights and sounds of F1, we strongly urge you to do so now before all the rooms are fully taken!

Here’s a disclaimer though, for your most preferred view, do check with the reservations department as to whether or not your room is facing the race track, if it is high up enough or if it has a balcony for the experience you desire.
